Inspiring Photo Walk of Friendship

Inspiring Photo Walk of Friendship

On Sunday afternoon I led the Photo Walk of Friendship in Ilkley. It was an impromptu walk I decided to organise after recognising the rise in emotions and division witihin friendship groups, families and communities following the EU referendum. I hoped it would give people a chance to get out, enjoy the outdoors and escape from the endless stream of news and political comment. The idea evidently struck a chord, as more than thirty people turned up along with kids and dogs! It was a fantastic afternoon, with stunning weather and great company, as one photo walker put it, “it was just what the doctor ordered“. We stuck to the banks of the Wharfe starting and finishing at the Old Bridge.

There was plenty of subject matter along the way including swimmers, kayakers and a crazy guy jumping off the footbridge! By the end of the walk there was a real sense of inspiration and optimism. I didn’t think it could of ended any better, and no sooner had I thought that, than a King Fisher flew under the bridge and landed in a nearby tree! And for our Ted it really did get better… with a big scoop of Yorkshire Dales Ice cream!
