I am very excited to announce that I will be back at RHS Garden Harlow Carr in Harrogate this year with four photography workshops. It is my third year leading these sessions in a stunning location that will provide you with all the inspiration you need to take your photography to the next level.

Whether you want to find a new way to capture images of the wildlife in your local area, you are looking to hone your close-up photography skills, you need help with shooting at night or you would like practical camera advice, there is a session for you.

Each one is fully accessible and open to everyone from beginners to more experienced photographers. The small groups for each workshop mean that I can tailor the advice I give to all skill levels and everyone can get as much as possible out of the time we have together.

About the Location – RHS Harlow Carr

RHS Garden Harlow Carr is the perfect location for my practical photography workshops. The manicured grounds are a haven for flora and fauna, which means you will never be short of a subject for your photography.

Located on the outskirts of Harrogate in the surroundings of the gorgeous North Yorkshire countryside, you will find a wide variety of landscapes. Harlow Carr promises woodland and wildflower meadows, still water, running water and so much more. It’s a hugely popular destination for nature lovers and one of the most exciting bits is that, by taking part in these sessions, you get to explore all the secret corners of the site that so many visitors never get to see!

19th May – Exploring Garden and Urban Wildlife with a Camera

21st July – Close-Up Macro Photography

There are so many flowers, plants, nature and other fascinating features around Harlow Carr to provide inspiring subjects for this one-day course that will transform how you take close-up shots.

Learn the secrets of macro photography with practical advice that will help you create powerful and stunning images. Whether you have a DSLR with macro lenses, close-up filters and extension tubes or you are using a camera phone, I can offer tips and advice to bring those close-up shots to life.

20th October – Get a Grip Camera Course

This is a new addition for 2023 at Harlow Carr, and it forms part of my well-established practical digital camera workshop. This is perfect for anyone with a camera with manual settings, whether it is a compact, mirrorless or DSLR device.

I will give you customised guidance on how to get the most out of the camera, to gain more control over the plethora of potential settings and help you take better photographs. And, with the glorious landscape of Harlow Carr to explore, you won’t be short of pictures to take.

30th Nov – Night Photography @ Glow

Glow is one of the most exciting annual events at Harlow Carr. The gardens are lit up by a spectacular light show, with a host of displays across the location.
This is a perfect opportunity to create some really special images that capture this exciting event. And the fourth of this year’s photography workshops will help you capture the event in all its glory.
