Gardens and flowers feel like a big part of an English Summer. Yet, getting memorable, eye catching photos of them can sometimes seem elusive!

This special day will start with a short introduction to the approach, planning and techniques photographing gardens and flowers at their best.

Leaning on my commercial experience as well as several International Garden Photographer of the Year commendations, I'll be sharing top, practical tips for getting better, print worthy photographs of stunning gardens.

Most people think of their photos as something that will be seen on a screen. Photographing to a standard that can be printed is a really great way to improve you photographic technique and approach!

Golden Acre park is a stunning location, with lots of hidden and surprising features including award-winning garden designs. Catching it at a quieter time we'll be able to explore some of these secret corners and learn how to creatively capture them.

Folowing that and a brief break for lunch, we'll get stuck into the edit, using adobe Lightroom and/or Photoshop to get the best from the morning's shoot (you are welcome to use a different software for the edit or even hire a MacBook with Adobe software installed).

I'll be sharing the tips and tricks I've learned from nearly 20 years of digital editing experience to help you get the best from your own shots.

We'll finish the workshop by creating an A3 print of your favourite photo using a professional grade printer on thick, fine-art cotton paper giving your photo a professional quality finish.

A Macbook Pro with Adobe Software installed is available for hire on this workshop.

Private Lessons (Half-Day): In Search of Owls

I've been watching and photographing owl near and far for many years now and every sighting still brings a rush of excitement. July can be a great time to spot owls, but with great opportunity comes great responsibility. With this private workshop I'll be sharing best approaches to responsibly watch and photograph one of our most iconic and enigmatic bird species.

Private Lessons (Full-Day): North Yorkshire Coast Tour

Nesting season on the cliffs is one of the real highlights of the year and it's always exciting heading over to the North Yorkshire Coast. I've been heading out there for over ten years now and each year offers something new, the secret is knowing where to look!

Join me for a breathtaking exploration as we explore some of my top spots for photographing puffins, gannets, fulmar, owls and moor on this special coastline.

Can I bring children?

From an early age, photography has played such a key role in my life. As part of my desire to champion photography to young people I offer free places for under 16s when accompanied by a paying adult

What if the weather forecast is bad?

You may be surprised just how many bad forecasts result in beautiful days - it happens a lot!

Walking Photography will always try and proceed with a planned photo walk. If extreme weather conditions or severe accessibility issues arise, then the walk date will rearranged for a convenient date.

What if the weather is bad?

It is surprisingly rare to have an event that is completely marred by the weather. With a deep to commitment to offering fun and enjoyable photo walks and workshops, if the event is judged to have been ruined by the weather participants will be given a 50% discount voucher off a future Photo Walk workshop up to the same value.

Can I bring my camera phone or tablet?

Yes! We welcome camera phone and tablet walkers on most photo walks. There are some events like Get a Grip Course and the Night Photo Walks where you require manual functions on your camera. Such events are clearly noted in the descriptions.

What is the accessibility like?

Accessibility varies widely from event to event. Please get in touch with any accessibility questions.

Walking Photography also offers Private Leisure Tours at a fixed rate that can be tailored to address any accessibility needs.
